About Cookie Science
Where ridiculous questions meet surprisingly serious science.
Welcome to Cookie Science
Have you ever wondered how fast a sheep would be travelling if it walked along the roof of a moving train? Or why something perfectly sensible suddenly becomes completely ridiculous when you think about it for long enough?
Welcome to Cookie Science, where peculiar questions are not only welcomed — they're positively encouraged.
We're interested in the wonderfully weird side of everyday life, particularly those questions that make you laugh before making you think.

There's Method in Our Madness
Cookie Science begins with a simple idea: even the most absurd question can contain a little genuine science.
Behind a ridiculous scenario, there might be a fascinating principle of physics, a quirk of human psychology, an unexpected mathematical puzzle or a perfectly logical explanation that nobody saw coming.
We take these peculiar possibilities, examine them with curiosity and just enough scientific seriousness, and see where the answers lead.
Sometimes we discover something remarkable. Sometimes we uncover another question. And occasionally, we simply discover that the original question was even more ridiculous than we thought.
Why Cookie Science?
Because curiosity shouldn't have to wear a serious face.
Science isn't confined to laboratories, textbooks or people wearing white coats. It surrounds us every day, often hiding in the most unlikely places.
Cookie Science is an invitation to explore that world without worrying whether a question sounds clever enough to ask.
In fact, the sillier the question sounds, the more interesting the investigation might become.
Who's Behind the Nonsense?
Cookie Science is the creation of Stephen Walker a retired engineer with a lifelong curiosity about how things work and a particular fondness for questions that refuse to behave themselves.
Years spent solving practical engineering problems taught me that the obvious answer isn't always the correct one.
Retirement hasn't cured my curiosity. If anything, it's given it more room to wander.
And when my grandson proposed a question about a sheep walking along the roof of a moving train, I realised that absurdity and science could make rather entertaining companions.
A Final Thought
We don't promise that every question will change your understanding of the universe.
But we do promise to take the questions seriously enough to investigate them — without taking ourselves too seriously along the way.
Cookie Science: Because even nonsense deserves an explanation.
